 What is drum granulator?

 The drum granulator is a kind of molding equipment which makes the raw material into certain shapes. It is one of the key equipment of compound fertilizer industry, and is suitable for cold, hot granulation and high, medium and low concentration of compound fertilizer production on a large scale.

The machine adopts plypropylene plastic smooth linings, which results in less wall sticking. It is suitable for 30,000 t/y as well as possessing steam condition high concentration compound fertilizer above 40%, which makes it the required equipment for urine, nitro, and urea to melt, spray and granulate.

The machine can also adopt rubber or acid-resistant stainless steel linings, which has realized automatic scar and tumor removal with the cancelation of traditional scrapper.

What for?

The drum granulator’s main operating process is aggregate wet granulation. With the inflow of certain amount of air and steam, the base fertilizer can have a full chemical reaction after humidifying in the cylinder. Under certain liquid phase, with the help of the cylinder’s rotation, extrusion force is produced among the particle granules, which makes them roll into balls.

The sophericity is ≥o.7, particle size is usually 0.33-3 mm, the granularity rate ≥90%.The diameters of the particles can be adjusted according to the amount of mixing material and the main shaft speed. Usually the lower the amount of mixing material, the higher the shaft speed, the smaller the final particles, and vice versa. The machine is especially suitable for the granulation of light fine powder material. The finer the material particles are, the higher of their sophericity, which leads to better prilling quality. Generally, the granularity of the material should be less than 200 mesh before granulation, typical material includes chicken manure, pig manure, cow manure, druss, argil, and kaolin etc..

The drum granulator is dedicated for the granulation of organic fertilizer raw material feces of livestock and poultry manure, compost manure, green manure, sea manure, cake fertilizer, peat, farmyard manure, three wastes, microbes and municipal solid waste and the fermented organic fertilizer. The granularity rate of the machine has reached 80-90%, meanwhile,  it has good adaptability to various kinds of material formula. The organic fertilizer’s compression strength is higher than the disc and the drum, big ball prilling rate is less than 15%.The particle size and evenness can be adjusted through stepless speed regulating system according to the customers’ requirements. This machine is mostly suitable for direct granulation after organic fertilizer fermentation, living out the drying process, which greatly decreased costs of manufacture.

How to work?

This series of granulator’s basic working principle is: The main electric motor drives the belt and belt pulley, through reduction box transmission to capstan shaft, ratcheting through the side by side open gear wheel on the capstan shaft and the large gear ring on the cylinder body, working towards each other. The material enters the drum through the feeding port, and then the special structure inside the cylinder makes the material into ball shapes particles, then the product flows  out through the discharging port.

Aggregate wet granulation:  The ammonia gas, steam or phosphoric acid, nitrogen solution, ammonia phosphate slurry  and tsp slurry are added into the cylinder body, so they can complete the chemical reactions and heat granulation process of compound fertilizer, or the cold granulation process of compound fertilizer with the supply of small amount of water. The particles of the material will agglomerate into balls through the rotation of the cylinder body, and under certain humidity and temperature.

Features

This machine has the features of high prilling strength, good exterior design and quality, corrosion resisting, anti-wearing, low energy consumption, long service life, and convenient operation and maintenance.

1.     The prilling rate is up to 70%, small amount and granularity of reverting material, which can be used for re-granulation.

2.     Uses steam heating to increase the temperature of the material, so that the water content of the material after prilling is low, and the drying efficiency is high..

3.     Use the rubber engineering plastics as the interior lining, the raw material dose not easily stick to the interior wall. Meanwhile, it has function of anti-corrosion and insulation.

4.     High yield, low power consumption, and low maintenance cost.
